This is a very nice Remington Model 1861 Navy Percussion Revolver, .36 Caliber, 6 shot cylinder with a 7-3/8" long octagonal barrel. Serial #17223 and all original parts. Top of the barrel markings are as follows: "Patented Dec. 17, 1861/Manufactured by Remingtons' Ilion, N.Y.". Overall condition of this revolver is very good. It has a Light gray coloration overall with no original finish remaining. Edges and corners are lightly rounded and scattered light roughness is present on all parts. The loading lever has a distinctive cutout for the old model which allows the cylinder pin to slide forward without lowering the loading lever. It has a Brass triggerguard that shows nice aging. Two piece walnut grips are in overall good condition with minor scratches and nicks. A very light cartouche is still present on the left side. The action works well. This is a very nice specimen of a Civil War revolver.
